Easy Dairy-Free (Vegan) Cream Cheese Frosting

An easy, dairy-free version of perfectly sweet and slightly tangy cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces dairy-free cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup vegan butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar plus more if needed
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Be sure to bring your dairy-free cream cheese and butter to room temperature. You can read above for my troubleshooting tips on how to do this quickly.
  2. Once the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature, place them in a large bowl and use a stand mixer or electric mixer to cream the butter and cream cheese together.
  3. Once fully combined, add the powdered sugar just a little bit at a time. I would start with a cup at a time. When the icing starts to reach your desired consistency, slowly add the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
  5. This is one of those recipes that you will want to taste test before adding to your baked goods (wink, wink!).
